I don't think I expunged enough on how perfect the timing was for Nick to be born. Let me lay it out how sovereign our God is, specifically in the Buellton Grindy's lives.
Point 1 - I had 6 days off in a row, starting on August 30th through September 4th, so I was home when she went into labor. A huge worry of Katy's was that I would be on the south end of my area, working on a fatality, that I couldn't get away from for 4 hours. Praise God for that.
Letter B - I had gotten the shaft at work when I was guaranteed to work morning shift in September and they violated our union's labor agreement to force me to work swings. So. To my dismay Katy and I had already set up all of her doctor appointments for September to coincide with my work schedule, planning on it being a morning one. Ergo, I would not be able to make any of the appointments since her doctor was extremely busy. Turns out I had the first few days in September off and Katy went into labor before I had to work any swing shift, and since I took a month off from the day Katy gave birth, I won't have to. Pretty stinking sweet.
Statement III - My dad was here when she started having contractions. He was able to help her time them while I got the bags (not quite ready yet) and the car ready to go. He also took care of shutting down the house and taking care of Lucy (our beagle), both of which I ignored due to my high blood pressure and stress levels at the time.
Punto Quatro - Katy and I both were super anxious to meet Nicholas and felt like as soon as the doctor said he would be able to induce if we wanted him too, that we would jump at the opportunity (not really, but we had to pray really hard about the, what we deemed, unethical decision). Obviously, as it turned out, we got to meet him 20 days early.
All in all, I would say our God is pretty magnificent, glorious, all-powerful, sovereign, preeminent, gracious, merciful, perfect, and all other awesome adjectives that could be ascribed to Him. Thank you for blessing your humble and unworthy servants oh Lord!
Scripture Memory Verse
"17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, "Fear not, I am the first and the last, 18and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades." ~ Revelation 1:17-18
