Once again it seems that MacArthur has stirred the pot among reformed circles in one of his Shepherd's Conference talks. I honestly think he does it on purpose to arouse discussion and keep us all on our toes. Where I stand you might ask? Somewhere in the middle. I know, I know, lukewarm gets spit out, Satan owns the fence, all that jazz. Whatever, it's not the Gospel so BACK OFF!!! On a softer note, the boys over at Fide-O linked this all too appropriate representation of contextualization with the iPod representing the Gospel (oh the blasphemy!) and Microsoft contextualizing it. Taken a bit far, but still the point gets brought home quite well. Hopefully this will enlighten some of you as to what contextualization even means. I know it did for me.
Scripture Memory Verse
"17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, "Fear not, I am the first and the last, 18and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades." ~ Revelation 1:17-18
